Andrea Jeremiah accused of Tamil and Southern Industries being more male dominated industries than any Industry else. She questioned why should an actress be judged on how can she be objectified on screen. An actress who might say I will never kiss on screen might be getting more objectified than an actress like me, who can go naked on-screen if my character demands. That will be more artistic for people to watch too She reiterated about how woman are objectified in the Industry and how of they act with an actor then they are seen as big stars. She asked, “Why should Deepika Padukone be Deepika only after she acts and delivers hits with Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor and Ranvir Singh? Why Nayantara can become Nayantara only after acting with Superstar Rajnikanth, Ajith, Vijay and other stars? Why can’t an Andrea become Andrea by just doing strong roles? People are slowly changing but I still did not sign another film after Taramani, which became a hit and a critically acclaimed film. I am not ready to just sing and dance or jigel my butt on screen. I want a meaty role but no one is writing them and making them. People are still trying to look at an actress and judge her star status by with which hero, she previously acted. Until and unless that changes, actresses will be facing sexual harassment and objectification on screen, which they have to happily accept.
