ID-UL-FITR Celebrations In Hyderabad.

With Id-ul-Fitr, the festival which is celebrated after the month-long fasting by Muslims, just round the corner, the bazaars of the old city have started to teem with crowds busy with Ramzan shopping.All roads leading to Charminar and markets in and around the historical monument glittered with colourful illumination as the well-decorated shops, both small and major outlets, vied for customers’ attention. From apparel to footwear to accessories, the area bustled with shoppers till the late hours in the night.Though other shopping centres of the new city such as Abids, Nampally, Sultan Bazaar and Tolichowki are also gearing up for the season, old city continues to retain a certain charm with shoppers who come here in large numbers from all parts of the city. The buzz starts to peak after iftar and goes on.Mustafa Ali Muzzafer, Shah-Ali-banda corporator, called for steps to improve the vehicle parking facilities here and to streamline the traffic jams which were causing inconvenience to the shoppersAbdul Majeed, proprietor of Pista House, said that in the last ten days of Ramzan, many shoppers in recent years have started coming to old city after midnight to avoid traffic and other problems. “They come here to enjoy the festive mood and to grab the opportunity to shop with bargains,” he said.All stretches around Charminar from Lad Bazaar, Gulzar House, Patel Market, Pathergatti and Madina Market are packed till late in the evening with people coming to shop for ethnic clothes, footwear, jewellery and other articles.
