A kg of green chilli which was sold for Rs 20 three weeks back is now available at Rs 55 across local markets in the city. Traders attribute inadequate water supply in the summer, dwindling the green chili production. Loads of chilli from various parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have slumped to the new low Among other vegetables, the price of carrot has tripled in a span of three weeks. Earlier, a kg of carrot was sold for Rs 8 and it has soared to Rs 25 in various Rythu Bazars. beetroot prices rose from Rs 8 to Rs 16 while cucumber price went up from Rs 12 to Rs 23, traders point out.
