Bharatiya Janata Party leaders (BJP) in Andhra Pradesh are irked with Andhra University’s vice-chancellor for denying permission for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting at the varsity’s engineering college grounds on February 16th. According to BJP leaders, TDP has interfered in the issue and has indirectly sent a message to the AU management not to grant permission to the BJP.
Andhra University vice-chancellor G. Nageswara Rao said that the college management has not received any written letter, seeking permission for the meeting. Adding to this, the varsity has passed a resolution that it cannot allow any political meetings to take place during the academic session. BJP leaders in the district are doing their best to influence the management and get the permission and begin the arrangements for PM’s meet. They are however alleging that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has been denying permissions to most of BJP’s meetings in the state and alleged that the CM himself is turning government programmes into poll-pitches!
