Over the last two months, women from different walks of life took to their social media handles to open up about being victims of sexual harassment. One case that took the industry by surprise was Sajid Khan. With journalist Karishma Upadhyay and actors like Saloni Chopra, Rachel White and Simran Puri opening up about their horrific incidents, the Sajid stepped down from the directorial post of his upcoming next, Housefull 4.
At a recently held event, Sajid’s cousin and actor Farhan Akhtar finally opened up about the MeToo allegations against the Heyy Babyy director. Speaking at the We The Women event in Mumbai, Farhan said, “If I did know I would’ve spoken about it way before the story broke. There was this certain guilt about that. How could this be going on and I had no idea? So there were conflicted emotions.”
Rock On actor goes on to elaborate, “It was surprise, disappointment and strangely, because when it’s a member of your family, you also feel a certain level of guilt. It’s happened to all of us in the past when we hear something like this and say ‘but how come someone so close to him didn’t know’
I cannot adequately stress how shocked, disappointed and heartbroken I am to read the stories about Sajid’s behaviour.
I don’t know how but he will have to find a way to atone for his alleged actions.
