Just two days into the business and Vicky Kaushal‘s Uri: The Surgical Strike has already grossed Rs 20 crore. The movie, which also stars actress Yami Gautam, collected Rs 12.43 crore on Day 2 to take the total earnings to Rs 20.63 crore.
Sharing the figures on his Twitter handle, film critic and analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#UriTheSurgicalStrike witnesses remarkable growth on Day 2 [Sat]… Glowing word of mouth is converting into BO numbers… Growth on Day 2 [vis-à-vis Day 1]: 51.59%… Day 3 [today] should be bigger… Fri 8.20 cr, Sat 12.43 cr. Based on the surgical strikes which were carried out by the Indian army in 2016, Aditya Dhar’s Uri: The Surgical Strike, also stars Paresh Rawal and Mohit Raina among others. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala, the movie could not garner great reviews from film critics but Box Office India credited Uri for its “good start” on the opening day.
The film clashed on Friday with The Accidental Prime Minister at the Box Office. While the latter remained steady, its final numbers are still awaited for day two but its estimated earnings after two days of release stand at an estimated Rs 9 crore.
Sanjay was the former media advisor of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. In the film, Anupam Kher is seen essaying the role of Dr Manmohan Singh while Akshaye Khanna is seen playing the role of Baru. The movie also features actors Suzanne Bernert, Aahana Kumra and Arjun Mathur.
