JNU has started e-Rickshaw service in its premises with the goal of reducing the pollution caused by vehicles and easing the journey which will run on three different routes. For every trip, the traveler will have to pay 10 rupees.
A total of 10 e-rickshaws have been run, which will link all the residential areas, hostels, shopping complexes, educational buildings and all exit gates in the premises. This service will last from 7.30am to 9.30 pm.
After leaving the vehicles, VC M Jagdish Kumar said, “The service provider will charge 10 rupees per person for every journey. Women will drive all the vehicles in the coming months to promote women’s entrepreneurship and the favorable environment in the campus.
An official of the university said that in view of the demand, further e-rickshaw service can be done in the coming months.
