Will Win 4 Of 5 States, Says Rajnath Singh

Debate should be on nation building as politics is not only about government formation but about issues concerning the masses. One Congress leader (C P Joshi) went on to question PM Modi’s caste and Rahul Gandhi seems obsessed to prove his gotra. Such issues are personal and should not be brought in the public domain. Now, Congress is talking about cow and temple but our party doesn’t talk about these issues in the election season as these are related to our faith

BJP seems to be locked in a close contest with Congress in MP, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.

We will win four of the five states in the ongoing elections. Poll pundits are talking about the trend of voting out the incumbent in Rajasthan. But Bhairon Singh Shekhawat had broken that trend and Vasundhara Raje is poised to repeat the feat. I have campaigned in most regions of Rajasthan and can say with confidence that BJP will form the government again. In Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Raman Singh will form government for record fourth time. Voters know that the verdict is not only about the state leadership but also of Modi, who remains the most popular leader of the country.

J&K governor Satyapal Malik recently spoke about the Centre’s interference when PDP staked claim to form the government. He also feared his transfer after saying this.

I have said earlier and am reiterating that there was no interference from the Centre. It was the sole discretion of the governor, who dissolved the House as no party was in a position to form the government. In fact, the governor has denied making such a statement. The Centre’s focus is on restoring political stability in the state and strengthening local bodies for smooth governance. We are making sure that power is not centralised and representatives up to panchayat level have a say in governance.

AgustaWestland middleman Christian Michel has been extradited to India. Is it a political move to counter Congress’s allegations on Rafale deal?

The two cases are not linked and Congress’s accusations on Rafale deal are farcical. Most of the stakeholders have clarified that the Rafale deal was finalised with due diligence. However, Michel’s extradition is certainly a big achievement.

Mob violence in Bulandshahr and killing of an inspector has once again raised questions over law and order in UP. Bajrang Dal activists are said to be involved in the incident.

The incident was unfortunate and those involved must be brought to book. UP CM Yogi Adityanath is looking into the incident. However, one incident should not been seen as a reflection of the overall law and order situation in the state. Law and order has improved since BJP came to power.
