Kidambi Srikanth’s China Open campaign came to an end on Friday after losing to world No. 2 Kento Momota of Japan in the quarter-finals, on Friday.
The Indian shuttler lost the USD 1 million tournament’s quarter-final 9-21, 11-21 in the men’s singles event.
It was Srikanth’s third loss against Momota this year in as many matches.
Srikanth had defeated Suppanyu Avihingsanon of Thailand 21-12, 15-21, 24-22 in the round of 16 match to reach the quarter-finals.
With Srikant’s loss, PV Sindhu is now the only Indian left in the fray to win a title at the tournament.
India’s PV Sindhu will face home favourite Chen Yufei in the quarter-finals today.
Sindhu defeated Thailand’s Busanan Ongbamrungphan 21-23, 21-13, 21-18 to in the round of 16 match.
