R Vidyasagar Rao, waterman of Telangana, had served the State and the nation in different capacities for harnessing water resources the country has been endowed with. State government on Wednesday issued a GO (Government Order) renaming the Dindi lift Irrigation project in Nalgonda district as Sri Ramaraju Vidyasagar Rao Dindi lift Irrigation project with immediate effect.
R Vidyasagar Rao, waterman of Telangana, had served the State and the nation in different capacities for harnessing water resources the country has been endowed with. He was the advisor to the State government on irrigation till he breathed his last. He was instrumental in grounding and implementing many of the ongoing irrigation projects in State. Dindi project, which has been catering to the drinking water and irrigation needs of Nalgonda district especially the fluoride affected parts in the region, will hereafter be called as R Vidyasagar Rao Dindi lift irrigation scheme.
Vidyasagar Rao’s first death anniversary will be observed on April 29. The State government decided to rename Dindi project after considering it to be fitting way of paying homage to him on the occasion. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao signed the file pertaining to renaming of the project on April 14.
